Chargers' Hunter Henry not expected to sign contract extension before deadline
Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry is not expected to sign a contract extension before Wednesday's deadline.
He'll play out the year on the franchise tag, as he indicated earlier this offseason he was comfortable doing. Henry has been an elite tight end when healthy, and should be able to earn himself a nice contract with another solid season.
In each of his three (relatively) healthy seasons in the NFL, Henry has earned top marks from Pro Football Focus at the tight end finish. He finished as their 11th-highest graded tight end last season despite coming off of a torn ACL from the previous year and despite suffering a tibia plateau fracture in the first week of the season. He's numberFire's TE7 for the 2020 season, and is projected to catch 64.85 balls for 709.68 yards and 5.71 touchdowns.
