Chiefs say Clyde Edwards-Helaire has special skills

Kansas City Chiefs first-round rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has "some special traits," offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy praised.

What It Means:

"We know one thing that that kid is going to do: He is going to come in and work his tail off," Bienemy added. "Now, he’s just going to be a piece of the puzzle." Bienemy also addressed concerns over Edwards-Helaire's pass-blocking abilities. "He does have the attitude and the mindset to get it done, so I’m not concerned with that." The Chiefs' first-round pick will likely open the year primarily in a passing-game role, but he could upend Damien Williams as the lead back by December. It's also worth noting that the departures of LeSean McCoy and Spencer Ware leave behind a combined 118 carries, 33 receptions, and 5 touchdowns. In his final season at LSU, Edwards-Helaire totaled 1,414 rushing yards (6.6 yards per carry) and 16 touchdowns on the ground with 55 catches, 453 yards (8.2 yards per catch), and 1 touchdown through the air.

CEH is numberFire's RB27 in our preseason fantasy rankings while Williams is the RB33. Our models project the rookie for 163.8 carries, 702.9 rushing yards, 33.6 receptions, 264.0 receiving yards, and 7.3 touchdowns.
