Andy Dalton’s tenure with Bengals reportedly over
The Cincinnati Bengals are releasing quarterback Andy Dalton, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Dalton went 70-61-2 (.526) in the regular season during his nearly decade-long stint as the Bengals starter. He was never able to pull off a postseason victory, throwing 1 touchdown and 6 interceptions in four appearances. The New England Patriots may be the only starting opportunity available for Dalton, but he figures to draw interest from multiple teams as a backup. Dalton turns 33 in October.
Dalton averaged a career-high 268.8 yards over 13 games last season, but his 59.5 completion percentage was the lowest since his rookie season. He also posted a personal-low in adjusted yards per attempt (6.0). Among the 22 quarterbacks with at least 500 drop backs, Dalton was tied for last with 0.01 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back.
