Colts' Trey Burton was misdiagnosed before 2019
Indianapolis Colts tight end Trey Burton said he was misdiagnosed with an injury before the 2019 season.
Burton, who was signed by the Colts earlier this week, said he felt like he was rushed back and not given proper recovery time last offseason after undergoing sports hernia surgery. That helps explain why he averaged a pitiful 3.5 yards per target in his second and final season with the Chicago Bears. Burton added that he is currently four months into a six-month recovery from hip surgery in December. He's expected to work as Jack Doyle's backup in Indianapolis.
Burton averaged 1.9 FanDuel points (TE87) per game last season, totaling just 84 scoreless yards on 14 catches and 24 targets in eight games. His 3.5 yards per target was second-worst in the league out of 252 players with at least 20 targets last season. Burton became just the second tight end with 20-plus targets since 2007 to fail to average more than 3.5 yards per target in a season.
