Brandin Cooks' concussion history insignificant to Houston

Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks' concussion history is not a concern, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

What It Means:

Cooks missed two games due to concussions last season and has five documented cases in his career. "All that was taken into account when we worked with [Los Angeles Rams head coach] Sean McVay on the trade." Cooks passed his physical since being acquired from the Rams, but it was not conducted by the Texans' team doctors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2014 first-round pick was held to 583 receiving yards on 42 receptions (72 targets) last season following four straight 65-catch, 1,000-yard campaigns, but moving from Jared Goff to Deshaun Watson should serve as an upgrade. Cooks will likely compete with Will Fuller as Watson's top option. He turns 27 in September.

Cooks averaged 6.9 FanDuel points per game (WR72) last season. His total yards per game (41.6) and yards per target (8.1) were both personal-lows since his rookie year. Cooks ranked 50th in numberFire's advanced per-target receiving metric out of 81 receivers with at least 50 targets.
