Melvin Gordon expected to be Broncos' 'bell cow'
Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon is expected to be the team's "bell cow," per James Palmer of NFL Network.
Gordon has proven to be capable of handling three-down work, but Phillip Lindsay should still be able to maintain fantasy relevancy as a complementary piece out of the backfield. Royce Freeman may be on the outside looking in. Gordon managed to score 9 touchdowns last year in a holdout-shortened 12-game campaign, but he only produced 4.5 yards per touch (47th among the 59 players to average 6.25 offensive touches per game). Gordon turns 27 next month.
Gordon averaged 13.3 FanDuel points and 75.7 scrimmage yards per game last season. His 43.2 rushing success rate was 11th among the 35 backs with 130-plus carries. Lindsay finished 17th and Freeman was 34th.
