Ravens retain Jimmy Smith with 1-year pact
The Baltimore Ravens re-signed defensive back Jimmy Smith to a 1-year contract.
Smith is turning 32 this summer and has missed at least a quarter of each of the past four seasons due to injuries, so his services weren't exactly in high demand. His return gives the Ravens one of the deepest secondaries in the NFL. The veteran corner has spent all nine years of his career in Baltimore.
Smith recorded 1 interception and 6 pass deflections in nine games last season. Opposing quarterbacks completed 56.0 percent of their passes with no touchdowns for 11.8 yards per catch and 6.6 yards per target when targeting Smith. He finished as Pro Football Focus' 43rd-ranked cornerback.
