Rams part ways with Clay Matthews, free up $3.75 million
The Los Angeles Rams released linebacker Clay Matthews.
What It Means:
The move clears $3.75 million of cap space for a Rams team in need of financial relief. Matthews posted a five-year high with 8.0 sacks last season, in addition to 9 tackles for loss, and 11 quarterback hits. He will turn 34 in May.
Matthews was third on the Rams last year with 28 quarterback pressures. The Rams were 9th in numberFire's adjusted defensive metric.
