Philip Rivers, Colts reportedly agree to 1-year, $25 million contract

The Indianapolis Colts signed quarterback Philip Rivers, formerly of the Los Angeles Chargers, to a 1-year, $25 million contract, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

What It Means:

This move has been expected for weeks. Rivers threw almost as many interceptions (20) last season as he did in the previous two years combined (22), but the Colts' elite offensive line could enable the cement-footed veteran to have a bounce-back campaign in 2020. That said, the Chargers provided far better weapons to work with. Rivers turned 38 in December. Jacoby Brissett will likely sign elsewhere.

Rivers averaged 16.0 FanDuel points and 288.4 passing yards per game with 23 touchdowns last season. His adjusted yards per pass attempt feel to 7.1 from 8.7 in 2018. He added 0.16 Adjusted Net Expected Points per pass attempt, almost slashed in half from the year before.
