Patriots' LeGarrette Blount (hip) done for the season

New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount (hip) is done for the season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

What It Means:

Blount is expected to be placed on injured reserve and will likely be headed to free agency in the off-season. It's 50-50, at best, he winds back up with the Patriots. Brandon Bolden becomes the favorite to take over as the early-down back. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and coach Bill Belichick both praised Bolden's efforts in Sunday night's win over the Houston Texans. Montee Ball could potentially be promoted from the practice squad.

Blount was busy early in Week 14 and had amassed 0.85 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) on his 10 attempts. For the season, he ranks ninth in Rushing NEP per carry among the 40 running backs who have at least 100 totes this season. Bolden finished with -2.05 Rushing NEP on Sunday after totaling 51 yards on 16 carries.
