Vance McDonald goes for 71 yards, touchdown in San Francisco loss
San Francisco 49ers tight end Vance McDonald caught 6-of-7 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown Week 12 against the Arizona Cardinals.
McDonald dominated the tight-end targets with Garrett Celek sidelined by an ankle injury, and he scored for the second time in two games. McDonald came open on a crossing route from eight-yards out for the 49ers' only touchdown of the game, and he had a few nice catch-and-runs on the day. Rookie Blake Bell made some plays, but McDonald stands to see a decent workload with Celek set to miss a couple weeks.
Coming into the week, among the 41 tight ends with at least 20 targets, McDonald ranked 38th in Reception Net Expected Points per target. That'll improve after he racked up 6.85 Reception NEP on his seven targets against Arizona.
