Tom Savage released by 49ers, C.J. Beathard (wrist) likely active
The San Francisco 49ers released quarterback Tom Savage.
Savage didn't make an appearance after being signed last month. The move indicates C.J. Beathard (wrist) will be active, as second-year undrafted free agent Nick Mullens is the only other quarterback currently on the roster, although it remains to be seen who will start. Savage is 28.
Savage is 181-of-315 (57.5 percent) for 2,000 yards (6.3 yards per attempt) with 5 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 13 career appearances (nine starts).
