Cavs deal Iman Shumpert to Kings at the deadline
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Cleveland Cavaliers guard/forward Iman Shumpert has been sent to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team deal.
Shumpert is certainly a throw-in to make contracts work. His cap hit is $10.3 million this season and he has a $11 million player option for 2017-18. He'll likely opt into that. But he hasn't played since January 23rd as he's continued to battle injuries for the majority of the year. In this exchange, George Hill will land in Cleveland, giving him an opportunity to start or at least play bigger minutes. This move should also allow J.R. Smith to play big minutes the rest of the way. The Cavs have added a 2020 second-rounder in the deal.
In just 14 appearances, Shumpert's averaged 4.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 2017-18. He's a year removed from averaging 25.5 minutes and 7.5 points per game.
