Jameer Nelson agrees to deal with Pelicans
Free agent guard Jameer Nelson has agreed to a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, reports The Vertical's Shams Charania.
After being waived by the Denver Nuggets, Nelson started to draw interest from various teams, including the Houston Rockets. But the Pelicans can offer minutes right away, with Rajon Rondo (hernia) out 2-to-4 weeks. As ESPN's Bobby Marks points out, New Orleans could wait until after October 24th to sign Nelson and not waiver a player on their roster.
Nelson will back up Rondo and Jrue Holiday for the majority of the season, so we project him for just 1,407 minutes and 537 points over the remainder of the 2017-18 season.
