Knicks' Carmelo Anthony would approve deal to Cleveland, Houston

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony would waive his no-trade clause if a deal were in place to send him to the Cleveland Cavaliers or Houston Rockets, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

What It Means:

Even after Phil Jackson's departure from the team, the Knicks have "resisted the idea of a contract buyout" and are seeking "significant assets" in any potential Melo deal. The Rockets have reportedly been "proactive" about trading for Anthony, but talks have "yet to gain traction." This will be something worth keeping an eye on as the NBA arms race continues through the summer.

Anthony averaged 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.0 3-pointers in 34.3 minutes per game this season. His .535 true shooting percentage was a slight improvement over the past couple years, but he still finished only 269th in the NBA -- tied with fellow 2003 draftee Dwyane Wade -- with a -0.7 nERD in 74 games played.
