Nuggets' Jusuf Nurkic continues stellar preseason
Denver Nuggets center Jusuf Nurkic scored 21 points while grabbing 16 rebounds versus the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, making 6-of-10 from the field and 9-of-12 free throws in 31 minutes of action.
What It Means:
It's worth noting that Nikola Jokic was out for Sunday's preseason battle with the Lakers, but Nurkic has been tearing up the preseason with or without his frontcourt mate. In three preseason games Nurkic is averaging 18.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals with a true shooting percentage of 62.3 percent.
Last season Nurkic was pretty inconsistent with averages of 8.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 17.1 minutes per game. His effective field goal percentage was only .417 last season and he will have to drastically improve his efficiency numbers if he wants a big part in the Denver rotation.
