LeBron James tells Cavaliers he will re-sign
Free agent forward LeBron James has informed the Cleveland Cavaliers that he will re-sign with the team this summer.
This is not surprising and was expected to happen. James is in no rush to sign, however, and he and his agent need to meet to go over his contract options. It's likely that he'll sign a deal that carries a player option next summer in order to maximize his long-term salary. In the meantime, the Cavaliers are busy trying to retain unrestricted free agent J.R. Smith.
James finished fourth in the NBA with a 15.5 nERD this season, and he averaged 25.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 35.6 minutes per game. His .588 true shooting percentage, 11.8 total rebound rate and 36.0 percent assist rate were all better than his career averages.
