Celtics rescind qualifying offer to Jared Sullinger

The Boston Celtics have rescinded their qualifying offer to center Jared Sullinger.

What It Means:

Sullinger is now a free agent and will likely get a lot of interest from several teams. He is the definition of a talented, but widely inconsistent player, and he also failed to get minutes in Boston's front court at times last season. Boston say that they are still interested in bringing him back, but this move likely means that statement is more lip service that sincerity.

Sullinger is coming off averaging 10.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 23.6 minutes per game. He had a nERD of 1.6 in 81 games played last season, and through four years the big man has a double-double per-36 average every year of his career. However, he shot a career-worst .453 effective field goal percentage and 45.8 percent from inside the three point line last year.
