Jose Calderon

Jose Calderon traded from Bulls to Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired point guard Jose Calderon and a future second-round pick from the Chicago Bulls in a trade.

What It Means:

The Bulls will receive an unnamed player in return for the exchange, so the main goal of the move was for Chicago to dump some salary before newly-signed Dwyane Wade is added to the books. Calderon is owed $7.7 million in the final year of his deal, but he won't be found on the fantasy radar. His main contributions for the Lakers will come in the form of leadership and veteran guidance for the young backcourt of D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson.

The New York Knicks traded Calderon to the Chicago Bulls on June 22. He started all 72 games in which he played last season, averaging 7.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 triples and 0.9 steals in 28.1 minutes per game on 45.9 percent shooting from the field. His -0.1 nERD ranked 81st in the league.
