Lauri Markkanen (hand) ruled out Wednesday for Jazz versus Spurs
Utah Jazz power forward Lauri Markkanen (left hand contusion) is out Wednesday versus the San Antonio Spurs.
What It Means:
Markkanen has been downgraded from questionable and will be out for the fourth time in six games. Simone Fontecchio (toe) has been cleared to play, so he will be able to absorb some of Markkanen's minutes. Walker Kessler and Kelly Olynyk also tend to produce more when Markkanen is out.
Fontecchio is averaging 17.6 FanDuel points in 25.3 minutes over the last six games. He has a $4,800 salary on Wednesday's 10-game slate. Kessler ($7,900) is averaging an additional 10.4 FanDuel points per game when Markkanen is inactive, second-highest margin on the team. Olynyk ($6,800) is third with a plus-9.3 differential.
