Sources: Gal Mekel is pursuing the NBA
Marc Stein of ESPN reports that Israeli point guard, Gal Mekel, is interested in landing a deal with an NBA team despite the wooing of multiple Euroleague clubs.
After winning two Israeli Basketball Super League MVPs, Mekel signed a three-year minimum contract with the Dallas Mavericks in 2013 until he was waived by the franchise a little over a year later. He also had a short four game stint with the Pelicans until he was waived by them as well.
Mekel played six games last year for Russia's Nizhny Novgorod averaging 11.7 points, 4.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 20.7 minutes per game however he has the intentions to leave them behind and resurrect his career with an NBA team next season.
