Trey Lyles scores 18 with 11 rebounds as Jazz fall to Lakers

Utah Jazz power forward Trey Lyles looked great versus the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, scoring 18 points (7-of-15 field goals, 2-of-3 free throws) with 11 rebounds, three assists, five steals and two 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

What It Means:

The rookie took full advantage tonight with Derrick Favors (knee) and Rudy Gobert (ankle) both on the shelf. Lyles didn't get many minutes at the beginning of the season, but he showed some serious skill in the last couple of months. Gobert and Favors will both be back with the Jazz next season, but Trevor Booker is a free agent, which means that Lyles could be the first big off the bench during the 2016-'17 campaign. He's definitely on the radar in standard leagues for next season, and he should already be owned in dynasty formats.

In seven April contests, Lyles averaged 12.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.6 3-pointers per game. He earned a -1.1 nERD on the year, ranking inside the top 100.
