Russell Westbrook scores 34 points in Thunder loss
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook scored 34 points during a 106-100 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, adding 11 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes.
Seventeen of his 34 points came in the fourth quarter. Westbrook leads the league in both usage rate and turnovers for the year, and it will be interesting to see how he and Kevin Durant choose to share the offense under rookie coach Billy Donovan.
The fourth-best player in the league, according to our metrics, with a mighty impressive 15.9 nERD, Westbrook is currently averaging 27.6 points, 7.4 boards, 9.8 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.6 3-pointers per game. The only knocks would be his sub-par shooting from deep (30.9 percent on 5.2 attempts) and his 5.3 turnovers per contest. Even with those blemishes, he remains a top-five option in any format.
