3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 12/7/17

Clint Capela has a tough matchup against Rudy Gobert tonight. Who else is worth avoiding on Thursday's short NBA DFS slate?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to -- or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Clint Capela, C, Houston Rockets

FanDuel Price: $7,500

Even though Clint Capela has put up a couple of good games against the Utah Jazz in the past, Rudy Gobert's return puts a lid on any upside he could have had in this game.

The Jazz are the second-best team when defending centers, holding them to less than a fantasy point per minute. Gobert has obviously been a big part of that, limiting players he defends to 53.8% shooting within six feet and 49.3% shooting inside of 10 feet.

Capela has also been pretty average against Gobert overall. In their eight career meetings, Capela is averaging only 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.

Robert Covington, SF, Philadelphia 76ers

FanDuel Price: $6,700

Robert Covington has been a little inconsistent lately, and while he could be asked to do more tonight if Dario Saric is unable to play because of an eye contusion, Covington's matchup against Brandon Ingram is far from easy.

In his first game against the former second overall pick, Covington put up just 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 fouls. This could be because Ingram and the Lakers have been very good against small forwards.

Ingram is holding players he defends to 44.2% shooting overall and an impressive 26.2% shooting from distance. With the Lakers allowing small forwards to score just 0.78 FanDuel points per minute, Covington could be in for another off night.

Greg Monroe, C, Phoenix Suns

FanDuel Price: $4,800

Greg Monroe was a member of the perfect lineup two nights ago with 33.5 FanDuel points in a start for the Phoenix Suns. However, Tyson Chandler sat that game out, and assuming he returns from his rest, Monroe's appeal goes way down.

The matchup is also not great for any of the Suns' centers. As a team, the Washington Wizards are holding the position to just over a fantasy point per minute, which is 12th-best in the league. Assuming Chandler is back in the starting lineup and Alex Len also plays, don't chase points with Monroe.
