9. Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs (1997-98)

With .192 win shares per 48, Tim Duncan is technically tied with Dischinger, but in his first year in the league -- after going number-one overall to the San Antonio Spurs -- the big man posted a total of 12.8 win shares. He played in all 82 games and posted a PER of 22.6 in 39.1 minutes per game.

On a per-game basis, the 21-year-old power forward put up 21.1 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while also dishing out 2.7 assists. Accordingly, Timmy D was named Rookie of the Year for the 1997-98 season.
