C.J. Wilson (SP, LAA)

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher C.J. Wilson will undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder.
What It Means:
The writing has been on the wall for a couple of weeks now, and the Angels finally made it official on Tuesday night. The surgery will attempt to address fraying on Wilson's left labrum and rotator cuff. It will be performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Wilson, 35, did not make an appearance in the majors in 2016 and is due to become a free agent this winter. He's probably going to have to settle for a non-guaranteed minor league contract if he wants to continue his playing career.
In 2015, Wilson tossed 132 innings for the Angels, putting up a 3.89 ERA, a 4.20 SIERA, 19.9 strikeout rate and 8.3 walk rate. He's not so far removed from major league success that it's impossible to imagine he continues his career, but there's no guarantee.
