Austin Hedges leaves Padres' loss early with elbow tendinitis
San Diego Padres catcher Austin Hedges made an early exit from Monday's 6-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants due to right elbow tendinitis.
Hedges had apparently been playing through some mild elbow tightness but he said Monday was a "different story." The 25-year-old catcher will be re-evaluated on Tuesday but Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune expects the Padres to call up Rafael Lopez from Triple-A El Paso to help A.J. Ellis with backstop duties.
Hedges is averaging 5.6 FanDuel points per game this season while slashing .173/.235/.293 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI through 81 plate appearances.
