Angels' C.J. Wilson (shoulder) remains shut down

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher C.J. Wilson (shoulder) has not yet resumed throwing.

What It Means:

The Angels said last weekend Wilson was pumping the brakes on his rehab so he could work on his mechanics, but it sounds like there's more going on here. The hope is he'll resume throwing in eight to ten days, so Wilson isn't going to be ready to rejoin the Angels' rotation for a while. Matt Shoemaker will hold down a rotation spot until Wilson is ready.

Wilson struggled to a 4.24 xFIP in 2015 and had a strikeout percentage of 19.9, which is just below league average, in 132 innings pitched. His performance earned him 1.4 Wins Above Replacement. Our projections have him posting a 4.09 ERA and 18.3 percent strikeout rate in 2016.
