Scott Kazmir is having an interesting season for the Dodgers, posting a three-year high strikeouts per nine innings rate of 8.36 but also allowing a 5.23 ERA. However, Kazmir’s xFIP of 4.42 shows that he’s been pitching better than his ERA indicates. He’s also given up a crazy-high 20.7 home run-to-fly ball rate, which should regress in the near future.

As a -160 favorite tonight, he’ll face the Cincinnati Reds. They’re 26th in the MLB versus left-handed pitching in walk rate, which should help Kazmir limit his free passes and go deeper into the game.

Walks have hurt Kazmir this season, and as a result, he’s only pitched six-plus innings in four of his nine starts, making him much more suitable for GPPs than cash games tonight.
