The 37-33 St. Louis Cardinals have slumped their way through the NL Central, and a large part of that stems from the 19th-best wOBA (.309) in the majors.
One big contributor to that offense is Jedd Gyorko, who owns only a .310 wOBA mark in 2018. While he's been very strong against southpaws, he's really struggled without the platoon advantage, owning a .259 wOBA, .088 ISO, and 28.1% strikeout rate versus right-handers.
Tonight, the Cards face Vincent Velasquez, who sports a strong 28.3% strikeout rate while holding righty bats to a 3.18 xFIP and .271 wOBA in 2018. Look for Gyorko's struggles to continue in this matchup.
