Mookie Betts, OF, Boston Red Sox

FanDuel Price: $5,000

The Boston Red Sox have finally cooled off, and actually find themselves in a three-game losing streak at the moment. Apparently their group therapy efforts to move past Sean Manaea's no-hitter haven't kicked in yet.

In all seriousness, with the offense finally looking human for a few games, maybe the masses will be less inclined to roster them against the Blue Jays' Aaron Sanchez. Due to his past success and excellent batted-ball numbers, Sanchez isn't a guy we usually like to attack in DFS.

However, Sanchez hasn't been able to get it going thus far, showing just a 5.29 SIERA, 13.8% strikeout rate, and 11.9% walk rate over four starts. He's still a poor bet for dingers, given favorable batted-ball metrics, but he could find himself in trouble if he remains wild against a strong lineup like Boston's. Coming off an injury-marred 2017 campaign, it's possible Sanchez hasn't reached his prior form yet.

On the other hand, Mookie Betts is displaying incredible form. He's got his usual elite plate discipline in the form of a 11.1% strikeout rate and 13.3% walk rate, but he has also added a robust 48.5% hard-hit rate to his already impressive repertoire. In fact, Betts ranks among the best in Barrels per plate appearance in the early going. While it remains to be seen how much this extra punch sticks for the long haul, it's an encouraging development, and he remains as tough an out as any in baseball.

Considering the on-paper matchup and Betts' high price tag, most shouldn't be on him tonight, so keep him in mind as a contrarian play in case Sanchez's struggles continue.
