3 Under-the-Radar MLB FanDuel Plays for 4/17/18

Unlike Monday's main slate, tonight we're swimming in potential high-upside pitchers, including Shohei Ohtani, Patrick Corbin, and Nick Pivetta. Oh, and some dude named Corey Kluber. I hear he's decent.

With so many options, that could allow Lance McCullers to garner lower ownership than usual. Kluber will naturally take on the lion's share of ownership, but the hot starts of the other three should take a good chunk of the rest.

Of that group, McCullers' 14.7% walk rate sticks out like a sore thumb, and he's coming off a shellacking by the Minnesota Twins, who lit him up for 8 runs in 3 2/3 innings. Still, the ceiling is what we saw at the start of 2017, when McCullers rattled off a 2.58 ERA with a 28.6% strikeout rate, 7.4% walk rate, and 63.0% ground-ball rate over his first 13 starts before injuries derailed his campaign.

The matchup against the Seattle Mariners isn't ideal for accumulating punchouts, but excluding Kluber, McCullers has just as much upside as anyone. Also, keep in mind that it's not like Ohtani, Corbin, or Pivetta have lengthy track records of major league success.
