There's "zero chance" the Buffalo Bills sign running back Ray Rice, according to The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci.

What It Means:

A report had surfaced earlier in the week that the Bills were considering signing the exiled back. But with both LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams looking like they should be back healthy before Week 1, the need for a new face was diminished.

Even when Rice was last on the field in 2013, he was ineffective. He finished the season with -38.48 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP), meaning the Ravens lost over 38 expected points on the 214 times he carried the football. Buffalo does need a boost in the backfield after finishing 29th in our schedule-adjusted Rushing NEP per play last year, but McCoy should fill that role better than Rice.
