Matt Forte

Matt Forte open to splitting Bears' backfield with Jeremy Langford

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte is open to sharing carries with Jeremy Langford when he returns from his knee injury.

What It Means:

"Jeremy has talent," said Forte. "He's done his job like he's supposed to ... I've constantly worked with him and continue to tell him what I know so he can be consistent." Forte acknowledged liking the idea of not having to play every single down, for the sake of the long-term future of both him and Langford. We don't expect a committee, but the Bears would be wise to see what they have in the rookie, considering Forte is just about guaranteed to leave in free agency. Forte should be back this week or the next.

Among backs with at least 80 carries this season, Forte ranks 24th in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry. Always a great receiver, he ranks 11th in Reception NEP per target, among backs with at least 30 targets. Langford added 8.73 Total Net Expected Points in Week 10 against the St. Louis Rams. This was the third-best running back total for the week.
