Panthers' Ian Thomas 'pretty well prepared' for starting job
Carolina Panthers rookie tight end Ian Thomas is "pretty well prepared" to replace tight end Greg Olsen (foot), head coach Ron Rivera said.
What It Means:
The Panthers announced that Greg Olsen re-fractured his surgically-repaired right foot against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, so Thomas will take over against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2 and for the foreseeable future. “There are some things obviously that he still has to learn," Rivera conceded, "and he’s got a long ways to go in terms of that natural feel that Greg has, having that rapport that Greg has, so we’ll see. The Panthers took Thomas in the fourth round of this year's draft.
