Eagles want to involve Darren Sproles in offense more often

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said the team wants to get running back Darren Sproles the ball 'steadily and consistently' this season.

What It Means:

Chip Kelly will likely shift Sproles all across the field in the Eagles offense. Sproles started the season strong last year averaging 131.5 total yards in the first two games, but he faded as his role in the Eagles offense diminished.

The Eagles ranked 18th in our schedule-adjusted Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) metric last season. Sproles ranked first among all running backs with at least 50 carries with a 0.21 Rushing NEP per carry last season. Our algorithms project Sproles to finish the year with 135 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown, 41 receptions, 358 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns.
