Texans' A.J. Bouye expected to lead cornerback market
Houston Texans impending free agent defensive back A.J. Bouye will be the "clear king" of the cornerback class, according to Monday Morning Quarterback's Albert Breer.
Bouye is coming off a spectacular third-year campaign and he should be able to command more on the open market than the five-year, $62.5-million deal that Janoris Jenkins received last March. After opening the year fourth on the Texans' depth chart, the 25-year-old corner went on to deflect a career-high 16 passes and wound up emerging as one of the up-and-coming stars in the league. Head coach Bill O'Brien has said the team would like Buoye to be back in Houston next season.
The Texans came in sixth in opponent-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play in 2016.
