Jordy Nelson caps Packers' season with Comeback Player of the Year
The Associated Press named Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson its 2016 Comeback Player of the Year.
After missing the entire 2015 season to ACL surgery, Nelson rebounded with 97 catches, 1,257 yards and a league-high 14 touchdowns. There were rumblings Nelson might never be the same player given his age at the time of his injury but he picked up where he left off before going down, averaging 79 yards per game. It wasn’t a huge feat for Nelson to regain his elite status given his quarterback situation. Nelson's play fell off late in the year and in the playoffs, but will return as a top-10 receiver for 2017.
Among the 41 wide receivers to see at least 100 targets this year, Nelson's 0.81 Reception Net Expected Points per target was sixth-best.
