Week 9 Roundtable: the numberFire Experts' NFL Predictions

Cam Newton vs RGIII vs Andrew Luck

Each week, the great minds behind numberFire will give you some answers to the big questions of the weekend. I've taken a vow of silence this week in anticipation of the shake-up in the NFC East. As the wheat continues to separate itself from the chaff in our office, we will continue bringing you our personal calls.

Game of the Week Pick: Carolina at Washington. Which Young Gun wins - Cam or RG3?

Keith Goldner, Chief Analyst: RG3 at home. HTTR (ew).

Nik Bonaddio, CEO: Washington. Carolina is a wreck, and Cam Newton is a large cause of that.

Michael Worthington, CTO: Carolina gave the Bears a scare last week, but I expect the freshman RG3 to outshine the sophomore Newton in stats and point on the board.

Sean Weinstock, COO: Going with Washington on this one. Cam's on a roll in post-game press conferences. Here's wishing for another.

GotW Records: Sean: 5-2, Keith: 5-3, Nik & Zach: 4-4, Michael: 2-4

Which game this week is your upset special?

Keith: Tampa Bay over Oakland. Doug Martin and the Bucs looked like a real team against Minnesota and Oakland's defense pales in comparison.

Nik: I give the Raiders a decent chance to win at home against the Bucs, who have to travel across the country.

Michael: Michael Vick's job is on the line, and Andy Reid needs to right the ship, or else! The Eagles stand a chance to beat the mediocre Saints despite being away.

Sean: I really would like to pick Indy over Miami, but I'm not super confident in that. I'm going with Phily over New Orleans.

Upset Special Records: Sean: 4-3, Keith: 4-4, Michael: 3-3, Nik & Zach: 3-5

Who is more likely to win again: RG3 (vs. Carolina) or Andrew Luck (vs. Miami)?

Keith: RG3. See above.

Nik: RG3. Like I said above, Carolina is awful.

Michael: Somehow, logic says Miami > Jets > Indy in their recent match-ups together. Have to go with RG3 over Carolina this week.

Sean: Like I said, I really like what Luck's been doing, but yeah, Carolina really sucks a lot. Like, think of something or someone who sucks a lot, multiply that by 23, and add 6. That's how much Carolina sucks.

Who are you picking for a survivor pool this week?

Keith: No idea who I have left. I don't think I've picked the Redskins, so I'll go with them.

Nik: Texans. Can't see them losing to the Bills in any possible way.

Michael: A lot of tough match-ups this week, but I'm locking in Denver as my pick.

Sean: I picked against Carolina last week, but I'm not sure on it this week. I'm trying to save the good teams for a little later in the season. Not sure I've picked Seattle yet, so I like them over Minnesota this week. Especially since the game is in Seattle.

Survivor Records: Zach: 6-2, Keith and Nik: 5-3, Michael: 4-2, Sean: 4-3.

Who will be the best currently under-the-radar fantasy player this week?

Keith: Rashad Jennings to run all over Detroit.

Nik: Justin Forsett. The Texans will blow the Bills out leaving plenty of garbage time work for the Texans backups.

Michael: Titus Young is finally getting the targets everyone hoped for and used to justify early drafting rounds. Unfortunately, Ryan Broyles has snatched up some of those receptions and TDs in the past weeks. Continued success for Broyles should lead to more targets. Keep an eye on him.

Sean: Does Calvin Johnson count? Also, I've been awful at mentioning Randy Moss. Each week I don't say something about him, he does awesome. Otherwise, awful. This week, he's got a bye. Anyways, going to my own rosters, I'm rolling with Owen Daniels this week. Buffalo sucks. Not sure if they or Carolina would win in a Suck Bowl?

Last week's under the radar pick: Sean's Miami D/ST went off as the top scoring defense, putting up 20 points. Not sure we can count Owen Daniels as "under the radar," this week though.
