9. Pittsburgh Steelers

We remain in the AFC North for our countdown, as the Pittsburgh Steelers check in at ninth on our list of top defenses.

This probably comes as a surprise to many, as the Steelers are noted for their weak secondary. Led by the notorious Antwon Blake, the Steelers gave up the third most passing yards this year.

However, the Steelers were actually 11th in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP (36.33) this year, as they tied for 6th in interceptions (17) and were 3rd in sacks (48). While there was no bona fide superstar on the defense, four players registered at least five sacks this year, making for a well-rounded pass rush.

Additionally, the run defense posted the fifth best Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP (-31.85) to make this defense an overall sound defense.

Coming in at ninth overall on defense, the Steelers posted a 5.76 Adjusted Defensive NEP.
