Same With Geno Smith

You could argue the same thing for Geno Smith and the Jets, too. New York was just 1-8 before surprising us all and beating the Steelers on Sunday, led by a solid (0.72 Passing NEP) game by quarterback Michael Vick. Now they're 2-8, but still need a miracle to clinch a playoff berth.

The Buccaneers and Lovie Smith could argue that their division is weak, and Josh McCown gives them the best chance to win. While the latter may not be true based on our metrics, the former certainly is.

It's kind of the opposite with the Jets. Michael Vick may be a better quarterback for the team, but they have virtually no shot at a playoff berth. This isn't to say that Tampa Bay does, but entering Week 10, the Bucs had a 0.2% of clinching this season versus the Jets' 0.0% chance, per our metrics.

Like the Buccaneers situation, it just doesn't make any sense.
