Darwin Thompson, RB, Utah State

After transferring from a junior college program, Darwin Thompson is entering the draft following just a single season at Utah State.

It could be considered a curious move considering Thompson did not get invited to the combine, but his junior campaign saw an energetic, well-balanced runner record more than 1,000 rushing yards while snagging 23 receptions for an additional 351 yards. In all, Thompson came close to 1,400 yards from scrimmage on 7.9 yards per touch.

Another good season in the Mountain West Conference might have gotten Thompson, who recently turned 22 years old, to the combine. But Thompson seems confident that the time is now. While the pro day for Utah State players won't be held until March 27th, there have been workout numbers from Thompson's past that are floating around on draft Twitter. If these broad jump and vertical jump figures are indeed accurate and duplicated in a few days, the athletic profile for Thompson is going to look similar to Austin Ekeler's and Tarik Cohen's.
