It’s been some time since we heard Ted Ginn Jr.'s name, as he's disappeared for a number of injury reasons throughout the year. From Weeks 5 to 15, Ginn was tending to an injured knee but re-appeared in Week 16 and played 41% of the snaps. He was kept on the sidelines for the Week 17 finale, where the New Orleans Saints played a majority of their backups. This would tell us that Ginn is now running ahead of Tre'Quan Smith as the number-two receiver.

The Saints have one of the better wide receiver matchups on the week, getting a Philadelphia Eagles secondary who allowed Mitchell Trubisky to throw for a slate-high 248 yards on Wild Card weekend. With 48.8 DraftKings allowed points to the position, there should be plenty of fantasy points to go around between Ginn and Michael Thomas.

Ginn has been widely known as a deep threat throughout his career, and he can certainly pull off long targets still, but that is not where he has primarily operated in the 2018 season; 40% of his targets have come between 5 and 10 air yards. This is where the Eagles have been most susceptible on the field.

As shown, they allow much higher catch rates than league average at that depth (according to airyards.com).

In five games played, Ginn posted six targets or more in four of those games. The fifth is where Ginn suffered his injury. With Ginn expected to get closer to a full complement of snaps following his time off, he is palatable to roster and easy access to the Saints and their 29.5 implied total.
