Joe Mixon suffered a concussion in Week 13 and there's a decent chance he misses at least one game. With Jeremy Hill already on the injured reserve, that leaves Giovani Bernard with the potential for workhorse duties for the Bengals.
From Weeks 3 to 12 (he left in the first half in Week 13), Mixon averaged 14.0 carries and 2.6 targets per game while seeing at least 20 carries in Weeks 11 and 12. He also played at least 60% of the Bengals' offensive snaps in each game from Week 8 to 12. Bernard saw 13 carries and 3 targets after Mixon went down on Monday, so he stands to see as much opportunity as he can handle Sunday.
Getting that kind of volume at this price point means his matchup is largely an afterthought. Even though the Chicago Bears are allowing below-average fantasy production to running backs, Mixon being ruled out would leave Bernard as the week's top value option.
