Running Back: Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints
Mark Ingram, RB, New Orleans Saints
11 Rushes, 134 Yards, 1 Touchdown
3 Receptions, 21 Yards, 4 Targets
Performance Score: 98
For the second week in a row, this category is reserved for New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram. Despite trailing for much of their game against the Washington Redskins, Ingram gained a season-high 134 yards on just 11 carries. The highlight was certainly his 36-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, although gaining 51 yards on his only two carries in overtime put them in position to cap off the comeback win.
Ingram finished with 8.08 Rushing NEP, giving him a combined 18.38 over the last two weeks alone! He now has only 80 fewer rushing yards on the season than Le'Veon Bell (the NFL's rushing leader) despite 77 fewer rushing attempts. The former Heisman Trophy winner has 8 touchdowns over the last 6 weeks since the Saints emerged from their bye week.
Ingram is the feature back on the NFL's most explosive running game. Evidently, all that was needed to push him towards a career year was for New Orleans to jettison Adrian Peterson. Ingram looks poised to be a league winner for fantasy teams as we approach the playoffs.
