Believe in Mr. Jones

Given the aforementioned voids in the schedule, seeing the Green Bay Packers traveling to the Dallas Cowboys instantly jumps out as the game that makes for appointment viewing on Sunday, and the sports books agree. Carrying a total of 52 points, this late-afternoon contest is the only game with an over/under set above 47 points.

In a week that featured a bunch of running backs coming off the fantasy football wavier wire, the biggest immediate impact could come in this game from Packers rookie Aaron Jones. The fifth-round pick from UTEP is expected to draw the start, pending the availability of Ty Montgomery (broken ribs).

It's interesting that Montgomery was absent from the early portion of a Thursday practice that was open to the media, but was later listed as a limited participant. This sets up for a highly-anticipated Friday practice report and injury designation on the running back heading into the weekend.

If Montgomery does not travel with the team or is ruled out later, Jones will look to build on last week's touchdown-scoring performance. Following injuries to TyMont and fellow rookie Jamaal Williams (knee), Jones gained 49 yards on 13 carries; four of which came on the red zone. He was also credited with two evaded tackles by PlayerProfiler.

Hailing from a small school appears to have clouded an otherwise impressive collegiate resume. For starters, Jones owns a college yards per carry (7.7) in the 97th percentile. As the clear focal point of the offense, he also earned a 95th percentile College Dominator Rating.

In other words, he recorded a very large chunk of his team's yards and touchdowns. An 89th percentile College Target Share means Jones was also a factor catching the ball in the passing game.
