Quarterback: Tom Brady, New England Patriots
Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots 30 for 39, 447 Yards, 3 Touchdowns
Performance Score: 99; NEP: +28.54
After producing just the 20th-ranked Performance Score in Week 1 (44), New England quarterback Tom Brady let his play this past Sunday silence the critics, notching the top Passing NEP total (28.54) of the young 2017 season. He easily put to rest any talk that perhaps the end was near for the 40-year-old passer, dominating what looks once again to be a terrible New Orleans Saints defense.
The Patriots entered this contest with just three healthy receivers, and at times were down to just Brandin Cooks as both Chris Hogan and the newly acquired Phillip Dorsett struggled to stay on the field. But that didn't seem to matter to Brady, who dominated early with a career-best three first-quarter touchdowns, utilizing every weapon available to him -- from tight end Rob Gronkowski to running back Rex Burkhead.
The defense and lack of receivers never really bothered Brady, and he finished with 447 passing yards and those 3 first-quarter touchdowns. It was an impressive performance, regardless of age and opponent, and a positive data point for those questioning their investment in Brady early in fantasy drafts.
But which Brady is the one we will get for the rest of 2017? If it's the one we saw on Sunday, he may play your team straight into the fantasy playoffs almost single handedly.
