Tavon Austin's 0.35 Reception NEP per Target Ranks Last Among Wide Receivers

Through 12 games this season, Tavon Austin has already set a new career high with 91 targets, and he is just one reception short of his career-high mark of 52, which he set in 2015. However, the increase in volume has not resulted in better play from the fourth-year wide receiver.

Among the 82 wideouts with at least 50 targets this season, Austin ranks dead last in Reception NEP per target. The closest receiver to him, Quinton Patton, is well ahead of him, averaging 0.45 Reception NEP per target.

Interestingly enough, Patton's mark (along with that of every other receiver targeted more than 50 times) this season is even higher than Austin's career high of 0.44, which came during his 2013 rookie season. Austin's career low came last year, when he finished the season with an average of 0.30 Reception NEP per target.

In Week 15, Austin will be up against the Seattle Seahawks, who held him to 5 catches and 50 yards on 9 targets earlier this season. On the bright side, that is actually more yards than he totaled in his previous five games combined against the Seahawks.
