Tigers place Leonys Martin (hamstring) on the disabled list

The Detroit Tigers placed outfielder Leonys Martin (hamstring) on the 10-day disabled list.

What It Means:

Martin has struggled with his hamstring this season, missing 10 days in late May and early June due to the same injury. He's now back on the DL, and Mikie Mahtook was called up to take his place. Mahtook is in left field and hitting in the leadoff spot Monday afternoon against southpaw Ryan Borucki.

Before going on the DL, our models projected Martin for a .233 batting average with 5 home runs, 25 runs scored, 21 RBI, and 7 steals over 225 plate appearances remaining this season.
