Seattle Mariners outfielder Denard Span is not in the starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

The veteran started yesterday, but he'll get the day off against Rick Porcello tonight. He's hitting a solid .298 with Seattle, 60 points higher than his batting average with Tampa earlier this season.
